Brief friendplugs/HMV update

On Monday 3rd April, Radio 4, Fay and Ori's 'Helen and Gail' will be aired (10.45 am and 7.45 pm - but you can always listen again from the site after these times). Great write-up from the Radio Times, which called it 'Slyly written and brilliantly structured, it's Ladies Of Letters with flick knives'. So listen on.

UPDATE: This next bit might not be true - not sure what's going on but will put up more info as soon as I know what's going on. An hilarious April Fool that spiralled out of control? I do not know.

UPDATE 2: Apparently HMV double booked, and the signing is now scheduled for NEXT Tuesday (11th April). Keep an eye on the C4 Green Wing Forum for times and that though. 'Helen and Gail' was very funny by the way - highly recommended, with my favourite words being 'set-to' and 'banana'. Keith was great too.

And on Tuesday 4th April, various cast members of GW will be signing DVDs in the HMV on Oxford Street at some point in time, although I don't yet know when. There are two HMV's on Oxford Street, and I must confess to not knowing which one they're at, but if you go to one and they're not there, it'll most likely be the other one.

Wow, I'm really bad at the news, aren't I? Will update when I get proper times and so on. And when I'm less tired.

There is an arguement going on between my friends at the moment, on Green wing is mac's name Mac Macartney? or is the name Mac short for Macartney?. Please help this is driving me mad.

Mac's is referred to as 'Mac' Macartney - as in a nickname derived from his surname. Mac's actual proper first name must, for now, remain a mystery.

Hope that helps.

am i too late for the leaving-sycophantic-GW-comments thing?

don't care. i fucking loved it. it was like a little slice of wonky heaven. hurrah!

Thanks that did help even though I was wrong (how stupid can I get?. I forgot to say Green wing was bloody brilliant although some of the Sue White scenes were to gross for words.

Never too late for sycophancy - and by the time you've divided up the credit between the four thousand and twelve people involved in the production, all our heads swell only a few millimetres each, so it's quite safe. Also, equal amounts of people* think GW is RUBBISH, so it all balances out, hurrah.

And anonymous, I'm sure some interviews have put Julian's character down as 'Mac Macartney', so don't put yourself down.

* my dad.

does your dad openly hate green wing?

He physically recoils at its very mention, and has described its humour as 'a bit off' and 'distasteful'. Fair points both.

My mum thinks it's great. Ha!

I haven't seen it but I bet I'm gonna love it...

Aaaaaand you proved on here that your mother has a classic sense of humour so she rules!

I suspect it's the HMV between Oxford Circus and Tottenham Court Road, rather than the one by Bond Street tube. Because it's bigger, and has events like this all the time. But I may be wrong, and shan't be held liable for unsigned DVDs.

I loved it too - though even my OH (who has told me categorically that if he meets Sue White he's eloping with her) almost boked at the er, pleasuring/baster scenes...

I loved it too. the more you watch it the more you like it. don't understand why some journalists write such sh*t about it; they clearly just don't get it.

Had a dream about GW last night. And have been trying to email you to say the 2nd series rules but email keeps bouncing back. So: it rules.

Cheers matey - i think my email box was clogged with brightly coloured gossip from holy moley (I'm so ashamed) - should be okay now.

I think the GW a-z song will be in ep 3 by the way. I am very excited.

Rob, Fay and Ori are. I seem to be a gallumphing twat who needs to use the word 'lovely' every five seconds and talk about scarves friends have knitted for me, to the edification of absolutely no-one.

My favourite bit on the commentary is Karl (Martin) seeming to believe it was him rather than Guy who slept with his own mother. I'm still not convinced he was joking.

Got it yesterday after a long and yowly work day. Finished 2 DVDs worth of extras by midnight and most of the other disk this morning. Mooore, want moorrrre.
1st episode of 2nd series made be ecstatically happy. I didn't laugh as much as the second half of season 2, but much much more than the first 2 eps of seson 1. Now that you've all finished blushing about too much plot and blatant reset-buttoning, I expect the next episode to make a little bit of pee to come out.
p.s. Tamsin the corpser and Steve the provoker in that last deleted scene made my jaw hurt from laughing.
